Preparing Your Property for Sale

prepareforsale2

Everything we do when listing a property is designed to attract buyers and grab their attention.

And when we have their attention, we want to be sure they see your property at its very best.

Many buyers will make quick, snap judgements about a house. Their first impressions, good or bad, can be lasting impresssions.

“Curb appeal”, that general sense of exterior attractiveness when viewed from the street, can be very important.

Following is a checklist of some of the items we will review to enchance your property’s curb appeal:

  • Brush, sweep or hose away dust and cobwebs from your home’s exterior.
  • Check for peeling paint; and touch up trim, window frames, doors, door frames and shutters as needed.
  • Keep the lawn edged, cut and watered regularly. Trim hedges and trees. Weed lawns and flowerbeds.
  • Sweep your sidewalks often.
  • Clean out rain gutters. Make sure all gutters and downspouts are in place.
  • Clean windows inside and out.
  • Keep your garage door closed.
  • Store boats, RVs or old cars elsewhere while the house is on the market.

Curb appeal draws buyers into your home. An appealing interior will help close the sale. Following is a checklist of some items we will review to enchance your home’s interior appeal:

  • Give every room in the house a thorough cleaning, and remove all clutter. This alone will make your house appear bigger and brighter.
  • Remove and store the less frequently used items from kitchen counters, closets, and attics, making these areas more inviting.
  • Repair cracks, holes or damage to plaster, wallboard, wallpaper, paint, and tiles.
  • Repair dripping faucets and showerheads. Clear clogged drains.
  • Launder curtains, clean drapes.
  • Spruce up a bathroom with fresh, new towels and a new shower curtain.
