The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is a comprehensive information-sharing and cooperative marketing network created by REALTORS® several decades ago. While it is internet/computer based today, it began as an exchange of paper listing information sheets and photographs.
Listing agents enter the data about a home available for sale and offer to cooperate in the sale with any agent who brings a buyer. Buyer’s agents search the data for homes to show their buyer clients.
Through the data sharing functions that are now a standard part of all multiple listing systems, your property will appear in multiple MLSs throughout the state, as well as in third party data aggregator websites such as:
This gives your property maximum exposure to real estate agents and their potential buyers.
But thousands of other homes are also listed on the MLS, and all those homes also appear in the same websites. To every extent possible, we want your listing to stand out. We want to attract agents and buyers and grab their attention. We do that with proper pricing, plenty of photographs, descriptive text, and as much useful information as possible.
